PV with built in nostalgia

Who would paint a PV a 1965 PV 544 Sport with dull black
paint today?
Probably not more than you could count on the thumbs on one
hand.
Ingvar Hedin in Hällingsjö choose this colour in favour of the
cherry red that was originally in this car..
It was however not a new bought "pearl" that Ingvar choose to modify
to 70:s version but an old restoration object that he bought already in
the spring of 1980 at the reasonable price SEK 500. Admittedly
without fenders and with broken engine, but still…
During the winter before the meeting in Gotland (summer 2001) the
idea was born to put the car together from all the parts he has saved
from a 1960 544 that had been custom rebuilt in the 1970:s and
beginning of the 1980:s. All the rust in the body was welded and in the
end of March the dull black paint was sprayed. An engine was found in
the inner dark corner of the garage and put in the engine
compartment. Ingvar had put it together some time in the 80:s for
some other car, but then it had been left in the garage for so long he
had forgotten what tuning parts he had been putting into it.
Look at the pictures and dream back to the years when the Beatles
and Abba where at their best and the cars had etched windows.
