The Annual meeting 1999

By Thomas Andreasson
This years annual meeting, which was conducted at Volvogården in Flen, did as usually not attract any larger audience in spite of the fact that our club now encompasses more than 5000 members. However, some 40 of them headed to Södermanland in order to exercise their rights and to get informed about the future of our club. Since around 10 Volvo PV cars were spotted in the parking lot outside, it seems safe to say that a small PV-meeting took place too.
The meeting itself was executed in an unusually smooth manner. What had been scheduled to last for two hours, was achieved in 45 minutes. No larger surprises were encountered. Among the issues dealt with, the most notable one was that our hard-working spare part guru, Lars-Göran Hjertberg, finally leaves us after 12 years of struggle. Tommy Hemert from Hässleholm will carry the tradition. Lasse, however, with his invaluable contacts within the business, promised to help Tommy out for the initial period. So, let us hereby thankfully acknowledge Lasses efforts and at the same time wish Tommy best of luck.
Rune Birgersson from Hallsberg and Bengt-Olov Nyman from Länghem were elected as deputies.
The board of directors also informed us that Volvo had announced that their engine rebuilding service will be discontinued. It should be noted, however, that this service can be performed by any skilled engine rebuilder so there is no catastrophe connected to this fact.
Our finances lived, as expected, up to their usual high standards and the audit left no remarks. Therefore the board was granted discharge by the meeting.
Afterwards, goods from the club stock was sold, and simultaneously Volvo's engine plant had opened their doors for visitors.
